"The theme ACCess the Power: Connect. Communicate. Transform. not only reflects the association's name change, but also addresses the responsibilities we have as cable's communicators, " Misty Skedgell, vice president of corporate communications & corporate responsibility for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., and a FORUM 2008 co-chair said.  "At this year’s conference, we hope to provide our members the information they need to connect their organizations to their customers as well as to the communities they work in.?

Reinaldo Llano, group director, public affairs program development & analysis for Bright House Networks, joins Skedgell as a co-chair for FORUM 2008, which will feature three days of general and concurrent sessions specifically tailored to the professional educational needs of cable communications and public affairs professionals.

"As cable’s communicators, we are constantly being called upon to find new ways to communicate with our audiences," Llano said.  "We’re thrilled to have a theme that not only highlights the ever evolving role of the cable communicator, but also conveys our association’s mission to develop its members.?

During the general sessions, leading executives from the cable industry as well as the communications profession will share their knowledge and expertise on current topics and trends in the cable industry as well as in the broader field of communications. The conference will feature eleven concurrent sessions including sessions on the digital transition, how public relations can drive ad sales and RGUs and taking the next step as a communications executive. Additionally, new this year to FORUM will be a networking lunch designed to allow members the opportunity to converse with senior communications and public affairs executives, sharing advice and best practices in a small group setting.

A highlight of the FORUM annual conference is the presentation of the Beacon Awards.  The Beacon Awards honor communications and public affairs excellence in the cable industry and will be presented at a gala ceremony and dinner on Tuesday, April 1. The deadline for entries for the Beacon Awards is November 16, 2007.
