Bresnan, FitzPatrick & Beales to Receive CTPAA President's Awards

Washington, DC - The Cable Television Public Affairs Association (CTPAA) today announced Bill Bresnan, chairman and CEO, Bresnan Communications; Paul FitzPatrick, executive vice president and COO, Crown Media Holdings; and Char Beales, president and CEO, Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) as the 2005 recipients of the Association's President's Award.

The President's Award recognizes leaders who, by their guidance and support, advance the role of public affairs in the cable industry. The award, selected annually by the CTPAA president, honors individuals who have developed and implemented public affairs initiatives within their companies as well as throughout the cable industry. This year, CTPAA President Peter Kiley, vice president of affiliate relations for C-SPAN Networks, made the selections.

"For many years Bill Bresnan has been one of the industry's best 'good guys' and do-gooders. Since acquiring more than 300,000 subs in the Great Plains, he has done a remarkable job rebuilding systems and more importantly enhanced relationships with regulators and customers," said Kiley.

"Under the watch of Paul FitzPatrick, Hallmark Channel has become the fastest growing network and provides a number of excellent public affairs outreach programs, and notably Paul has effectively delivered cable's messages to Capitol Hill. He is one of the industry's un-sung heroes," noted Kiley.

"Char Beales has bridged the gap between public affairs and marketing through numerous CTAM initiatives," remarked Kiley. "CTAM has run its collaborative marketing conference, hosted several public affairs sessions and speakers at Summit, and initiated several consumer outreach campaigns that include strong public affairs elements. She is a true industry leader."

Bresnan, FitzPatrick and Beales will be honored during the Beacon Awards Gala, on Tuesday, May 3 at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington, DC, during CTPAA's conference FORUM 2005, "Expanding Cable's Connections." FORUM is the cable industry's annual educational event dedicated to the issues facing public affairs professionals.
