to Receive CTPAA President's Awards
Washington, DC The Cable Television Public Affairs Association (CTPAA) today announced Tom Rutledge, chief operating officer, Cablevision Systems Corporation, and Debora Wilson, president of The Weather Channel, Inc. as the 2006 recipients of the Association's President's Award.
The President's Award recognizes leaders who, by their guidance and support, advance the role of public affairs in the cable industry. The award, selected annually by the CTPAA president, honors individuals who have developed and implemented public affairs initiatives within their companies as well as throughout the cable industry. This year, CTPAA President Anita Lamont, corporate director of communications for Charter Communications, Inc., made the selections.
"Tom Rutledge is a force in our industry, focused on innovation, and creating value for the customer,” Lamont said. “A no-nonsense business leader, he also knows, upholds and values public affairs by supporting Cablevision’s efforts like the Beacon-Award TM winning ‘Power to Learn’ initiative, which enriches our communities and our children.”
“Since joining The Weather Channel 12 years ago, Debora Wilson has been instrumental in its growth, -- on camera, online and now at the top,” said Lamont . “She leads an organization that understands and cares about the connection between weather and people's lives, demonstrated dramatically during 2005’s devastating storms and every day through the network’s educational and safety initiatives.
Rutledge and Wilson will be honored during the Beacon Awards TM Gala, on Tuesday, March 21 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., during CTPAA’s FORUM 2006, "Cable at the Crossroads: Shaping Change in a Competitive World." FORUM is the cable industry’s annual educational event dedicated to the issues facing public affairs professionals and will be held March 19 to 22, 2006.
