FORUM 2006

March 19 to 22 in Washington, DC

Washington, DC - The Cable Television Public Affairs Association (CTPAA) announced today its annual conference will be in the nation’s capital for the sixth consecutive year. Specifically designed for the cable public affairs professional, the conference will be held March 19 to 22, 2006, at the JW Marriott, Washington, DC. The JW Marriott also was the host hotel for FORUM in 2001. CTPAA’s FORUM is the cable industry’s annual educational conference dedicated to the issues facing public affairs professionals. The association also announced FORUM 2006 and Beacon Award Co-chairs.

"Hosting CTPAA’s annual FORUM in Washington, DC, provides attendees outstanding educational and career development opportunities, as well as ample time to foster relations with important policy makers," said Anita Lamont, CTPAA president and director, field communications, Charter Communications, Inc. "By meeting in the city with the greatest concentration of policy makers who oversee our industry, CTPAA is able to attract members of the Administration, Congressional leaders and FCC officials to comment on topical policy issues facing cable. It also provides an opportunity for cable, on a national level, to highlight the positive community impact of our industry."

The FORUM 2006 Co-chairs, who produce and are responsible for the meeting agenda, are CTPAA Board Member Brett Perkins, vice president of government affairs, Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. and Craig Watson, vice president of communications, Charter Communications.

CTPAA will announce the winners of the 2006 Beacon Awards, honoring excellence in public affairs throughout the cable industry, during a gala ceremony and dinner on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at FORUM. The 2006 Beacon Co-chairs are CTPAA Board Member Todd Schoen, senior vice president, affiliate marketing & ad sales, Fox Cable Networks and Beverly Wilhide , manager, public affairs, Comcast Atlantic Division.

CTPAA is the only national, professional organization specifically addressing the issues, needs and interests of the cable industry's public affairs professionals. Its mission is to develop and promote public affairs excellence to help achieve industry, corporate and social goals. A strong advocate of the public affairs professional's participation in all aspects of corporate decision-making processes, CTPAA works to enhance each member's status and influence through skill building and professional development.
