Association of Cable Communicators Announces 2009 Beacon Awards® Finalists

Washington, DC ––The Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) announced today the names of the finalists for the 2009 Beacon Awards honoring excellence in cable communications and public affairs.  The winners of the 2009 Beacon Awards will be announced during the Beacon Awards Gala on Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center kicking off ACC's annual conference FORUM 2009: Communicating Cable 3.0: People, Products & Value.

"For twenty years, the Beacon Awards have celebrated the excellent work cable communicators do to promote their companies' products and contribute to the bottom line while also striving to improve the quality of life for their companies' customers and the communities they serve," said Janice Caluda, 2009 Beacon Awards chair and vice president, operations, Florida Cable Telecommunications Association.  "This year's finalists are no exception and display ingenuity, creativity and continued commitment to community despite the national economic climate."

Ninety-seven ACC members, cable communications and public affairs professionals, chose the 2009 Beacon Award finalists during an extensive, two-phase judging process.  The overwhelming number of high-quality Beacon Award entries submitted this year continue to demonstrate the cable industry's commitment to communications and public affairs and represent company initiatives implemented over the past year in areas such as community relations, education, multicultural public relations and public service announcements.
