PG-DR-04
Programming (Single Program) - Cable System 3
Time Warner Cable - Columbus, OH
Viewer's Choice Karaoke ChallengeWhen the Arts in the Alley festival planners wanted to create excitement at a new kid’s stage on the Sunday of their festival, they looked to 13-year community partner Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division, a sponsor of the festival, for ideas.  Time Warner Cable helped take this festival to the next level by increasing Sunday’s festival attendance by 35% with its Viewer’s Choice Karaoke Challenge.  Ultimately, Time Warner Cable helped this community partner encourage younger participation in the arts with this fun singing competition and created its highest viewed Local on Demand program to date, doubling the previous highest viewed program, the Ohio State Football Spring Game.

Bounce:  The Don Barksdale StoryTo celebrate Black History Month and to generate interest and recognition of a mostly forgotten civil rights pioneer and sports hero, FSN Bay Area partnered with film producer Doug Harris of Athletes United for Peace, a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit organization, to present the 75-minute documentary film Bounce:  The Don Barksdale Story.  An African-American pioneer and basketball legend, Donald Angelo “Don” Barksdale was the first African-American named to the NCAA All-America team, the U.S. Olympic basketball team and the NBA All-Star team.  In 1988 he established the Save High School Sports Foundation, which helped raise money for financially troubled Bay Area high school sports programs.
