The Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey’s signature music competition that began in Hudson County was ready to go statewide…”with a little help from their friends” at Comcast! The contest challenged high school students throughout the Garden State to come up with original music and lyrics and compete for $10,000 in prizes, plus a chance to perform live on stage and have their song professionally recorded. Comcast couldn’t let it end there…Comcast and CN8 added a live to tape production of the event edited into a one hour program available to all performers on DVD and available for free on Comcast On Demand. What a great example of the unique resources cable brings to the community!

Lifetime created an educational Viewer’s Guide to complement “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy,” a Lifetime Original Movie that premiered in October 2006 and raised awareness about an important family and community issue – breast cancer – affecting one in eight women nationwide. This Guide not only provided community members with important and timely information, but also offered concrete suggestions for people to take care of their own health, to support loved ones and to get involved in advocacy efforts. Since many myths persist about breast cancer and because the science is rapidly changing, Lifetime’s Viewer’s Guide increased awareness and inspired action among hundreds of thousands of people, including the hardest-to-reach younger women.
